Moroccan desert tour from Marrakech

Itinerary

1st Day

Transport from Marrakech airport to the hotel.

2nd Day : Marrakech > Tizi N'Tichka pass > Zagora > Faija plateau (about 370 km)

- Departure early in the morning in 4X4. We pass through Taddert, the Tizi N'Tichka passes (2260 m, the highest road crossing in Morocco), before joining the famous Draa Valley, one of the longest rivers in Morocco, passing through Ouarzazate.
- We cross Tizi N'Tinifift (1660 m) and Agdaz, a large fortified village which controls with its powerful kasbah and its date palms the northern entrance to the track linking Marrakech to Timbuktu.
- Arrival in Zagora. We cross the plateau of Faija, a superb desert plateau with already small dunes to the foot of Djebel Bani.
- Installation of the first bivouac and dinner under the sky of the Great South

3rd Day : Faija plateau > Oum Laachar Guattara pass > Wadi L’Mahassre (about 5h30 walk)

- First awakening away from everything...
- Start of our hike for a timeless adventure, to discover the great desert spaces. We get to know our camel drivers and we load the camels to cross the Djebel Bani, the barrier that separates the stone desert from the sand desert.
- Walking on a stony plateau which allows us to reach the Oum Laachar Guattara pass.
- Lunch in the shade in the Diabi oasis.
- Camp near a small spring at the foot of Djebel Abbes.

4th Day : Wadi L’Mahassre > dunes of Chegaga (about 5h30 walk)

- After crossing the gorges of Elabbas, we discover a sea of ​​sand that takes us to the foot of the dunes of Chegaga.
- We set up our camp next to the well where the nomads come to water their animals.

5th Day : Dunes of Chegaga > erg el Ghoul > Hasi (well) (about 6h walk)

- After sunrise over the dunes, we resume our walk in the middle of the dunes and tamarisk.
- We have lunch in the shade.
- Bivouac next to Erg El Ghoul.

6th Day : Erg el Ghoul > Iriki plateau > Zaouiat sidi Abdenabi (About 6h walk)

- We continue our walk on small dunes, then we pass on the plateau of Iriki.
- Bivouac next to Zaouiat Sidi Abdenbi.

7th Day : Zaouiat sidi Abdenabi > Marrakech (Approximately 65 km by track and 330 km by road)

- Return transfer by 4X4. A track takes us back to Foum Zguid.
- Lunch in Taznakht which is famous for the production of saffron and artisanal carpets.
- Then return to Marrakech via the Tizi N’Tichka pass.
- Dinner and night at the hotel, near the Djemaa el Fna square and its unique atmosphere. About 65 km of track and 330 km of road.
